This piece was written for a ballet, and tells the story of a firebird who saves Prince Ivan and thirteen princesses from an evil magician.

  • What images do you see?
  • How does it make you feel?
  • Do your feelings change as the music goes on?

Keep the music in the background as you do other things during the day.  You will get to know the music better, and recognise some of the melodies.  You can watch the video and see the different instruments being played.

There are many things you can do in response to this piece of music.

  • Dance to this piece as you respond to the music.  Go to Ten Pieces for more ideas to help you.

  • Draw/paint/sculpt/collage an image of the Firebird from your own imagination.  Look for inspiration from CD/album covers (click Firebird suite images)
