Church links

We are proud of our strong links with All Saints' Church.

The links between the church and school are important. The aim is to enhance the spiritual and community aspects of school life. The church is situated a short walk away from the school and the staff and children visit for some school presentations and collective worship:

- The children perform their annual Easter play there, for parents and families.

- At Harvest and Christmas, the school choir join in the Church services and carol singing.

- We hold our Year 6 Leaver’s service in Church, where the children are presented with Bibles.

The church welcomes families from the school and community to all services, especially at Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Mothering Sunday.

The School PTFA provide refreshments once a year at the Church summer teas, with teddy bear parachuting from the church tower, giving an opportunity for school and church communities to come together.

At the start of each academic year, a ceremony, led by the vicar, is held in the school Peace Garden. Here the children and staff, place a decorated stone with their name.

Until his recent retirement, we welcomed the vicar to lead weekly collective worship. The children recognised and knew the vicar well: he was a member of the governing body for some time and took an active and encouraging interest in the school.

There is also an active member of the church and PCC, who is a Foundation governor. They visit the school regularly, especially with a focus on Collective Worship, Religious Education and evidence of the Vision.

The presence of a church school in the village is valued as a catalyst in bringing together Church/School/Community, enabling everyone to live life in all its fullness.
