Vision
All Saints’ Church of England Academy
Our Christian Vision
As a Church of England Academy, our vision is to provide an education of depth and quality within a Christian ethos, provided in a safe and secure, nurturing and aspirational environment, so that our children can be the best they can be in all aspects of their development.
Our school is a beacon of light in our community. The light of Jesus inspires us to use our gifts so that we can shine and flourish together. We encourage and respect each other and grow in our learning and our living. Together we shine brightly as we live out our vision.
Our aspiration is that every child and adult can shine for the benefit of all and for the glory of God. We recognise that we are all special in God’s eyes, with unique talents, which we nurture to become the people that God intended us to be. We want to see everyone being inspired and growing in wisdom, knowledge and dignity. We want to see children flourishing and excelling in everything that they do through providing rich experiences which give everyone the opportunity to achieve more than they ever thought possible. We do not want the brilliant things that we do and learn to be hidden. We want to encourage our children to aspire to great things and for the light of their lives to shine and make a difference in their classrooms, throughout the school and when they return home and into their community.
Our vision is theologically rooted in Matthew 5: 14-16
You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine for others. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. |
We want our school to be a place where Christian values and core theological concepts* underpin, and are reflected in, the teaching and learning and every aspect of school life.
At our school we create a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which the all-round development of the individual can be fostered; where knowledge, skills, spirituality and attitudes are developed to fit him/her for a rapidly changing society; a place where children can shine. Our Christian ethos also encompasses understanding and sensitivity towards those of other faiths or none.
Our ‘golden rule’ underpins our Christian vision and both run
through all aspects of Academy life:
‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’
Our Christian Values
Our vision is lived out through our Christian values*. Throughout the year we focus on one of our values and explore the theological concepts in detail:
Value yourself: - don't hide a light under a bowl
*love & perseverance
EVERYONE is made in God’s image (Imago Dei) and loved, valued, celebrated and represented.
Value others: - let your light shine for others
*kindness & humility
Jesus’ life provides an example for living with others well. The diversity of the Trinity reminds us that difference is to be celebrated. Difference and diversity are expressed through representation and celebrated through inclusion, leadership and recognition.
Value the world: - Live so that they will see the good things you do
and will praise your Father in heaven.
*reconciliation & hope
Forgiveness and repair (‘making it right’) are important concepts within reconciliation. Love and hope for the world can be seen through justice and courageous responses to those in need, those on the margins and those without a voice.
These values are promoted across the school by all children and adults in all that we do in our classrooms, outside them and throughout our community. They reinforce our relationships and our behaviour. They help us create confident, self-assured children who know how to treat others, as well as establishing a sense of community that is demonstrated by the life-long friendships formed here.
Underpinning these values are the 4 key aims of the Church of England’s vision for education:
Wisdom, Hope, Community, Dignity
