Governance
The school is part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi Academy Trust and the Academy Governance Committee (AGC) is part of the governance structure of the Trust which is responsible for overseeing strategic decisions of the school. The governance structure for the trust as a whole is outlined in the governance structure documents here.
As an Academy Governance Committee we work in close partnership with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure the best quality education is provided to every child. It is our responsibility to support, challenge, ask questions and ultimately represent the school community. The Academy Governance Committee acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the senior leadership team, questioning and challenging decisions in a constructive and professional way.
Academy Governance Committees have key roles in relation to: providing support, monitoring and challenge around educational experience and performance; church, community and stakeholder engagement and supporting alignment with Trust strategy, approach, ethos and values. The AGC Members meet regularly, visit the school when possible and during special events. As a team, we are able to support the school to function well and strive to provide a high standard of education.
As a Church of England Academy (part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi-Academy Trust) all the AGC Members support the school in being a place of inclusive welcome and education for everyone.
All Saints’ CofE Academy and Burton Green CofE Academy have one shared Academy Governance Committee known as the Green Leek AGC.

After graduating with a Chemistry and Biochemistry degree I trained to be a Science teacher and realised, at that point, how much I enjoyed teaching and supporting young people to achieve their goals. I have taught in seven senior schools holding leadership positions in each of them, gradually progressing up to Headship.
After ten years serving as a Headteacher, I now work as a consultant for the Association of School and College Leaders supporting with leadership development, coaching, mentoring and recruiting senior leaders in schools and trusts respectively, in both the primary and secondary sectors.
I am passionate about education, seeing children enjoying learning, growing and developing their many skills and talents and gaining in confidence as they do so. It is an absolute privilege and pleasure to watch them making the most of all the opportunities school provides.
My husband has also spent his professional life in teaching too; first as a University lecturer and then moving into senior school, teaching Chemistry. Our three children, between them, attended Burton Green and All Saints’ primary schools before moving to secondary school.
As a governor, I hope to bring all the experience I have gained in education over the years, to provide support to our two lovely schools. As Chair of the Academy Governance Committee, I feel immensely proud to have the opportunity to serve the children, staff, parents and wider communities of All Saints’ and Burton Green Church of England Primary Academies.

My husband Peter and I moved to Burton Green in 1977, the year our daughter was born. Both our children attended Burton Green School where they enjoyed a wonderful education which equipped them with a life-long love of learning. I was delighted to be invited to join the Governing Body in 2000 after taking early retirement from my job as an insurance broker.
In my role as a Community Governor I endeavour to support the Green Leek Federation in any way I can and to foster the vital relationship between the schools and their local and wider communities, using my close links with Burton Green in particular. I am a member of Burton Green Womens’ Institute, on the Jubilee Committee (part of Burton Green Residents’ Association) and support Burton Green Choir, Made in Burton Green and Burton Green Village Hall Committee. In my spare time I enjoy Pilates, gardening and sports spectating.

I live in Leek Wootton and worship at All Saints’ Church. As a retired Primary School teacher, I believe I can take on the role of Foundation governor with some understanding. I have also previously been a teacher governor for a number of years. Since retiring I continued to work alongside children by volunteering in schools to listen to readers and helping at church holiday club. My two children both attended the old village school and my younger son was in the cohort that entered the new school in 1996. I have taught in both modern and Victorian school buildings and understand the issues arising in adapting to the demands of a 21stcentury curriculum. I appreciate the family feel that makes a school, such as All Saints’ and Burton Green, a welcome and nurturing environment.
Claire Harman-Sherwood - Parent AGC Member
It is great pleasure to take the role of parent governor. I have two children in year 1 and 4. As a parent I value the outstanding education our children receive in a nurturing environment. The whole child is celebrated and strengths of children are even further nurtured ensuring all children develop into unique happy individuals.
I feel very fortunate to be able to spend time in All Saints reception class and listen to children read weekly. The magic of watching children grow in confidence and ability is real honour.
I have 22 years experience working in early years settings ranging from day nurseries to a children centre as well as being an Ofsted Outstanding rated childminder and I currently work as a manager at a local Preschool. I have over 10 years management experience and have a good knowledge on safeguarding, working alongside Warwickshire County Council, leadership and early years child development. I have a real passion for working with children and hope that my experience and knowledge will contribute to the parent governor role.
Stella Villiers (Miss V) - Reporting Officer and Head of School at Burton Green Academy
I have been a primary school teacher for over twenty years. Training in London and returning to the midlands with my own young family to the Kenilworth area.
I joined Burton Green as a part time teacher in 2004 and progressed in my position when my own children entered secondary school.
I was privileged to become the deputy head of Burton Green Academy in 2014. I have numerous roles such as; special education needs coordinator, safeguarding lead, year six class teacher, creative team lead and deputy.
The small school aspect means staff have many roles but this also allows for a family feeling where staff and pupils are well supported and individual needs can be addressed. Pupils gain through the opportunities available in the smaller setting, flourishing in confidence ready for secondary school transition.
Being a teacher is a fantastic career - every day is brightened in some way by the children I teach. Finding hidden skill or talent a child holds, seeing a eureka moment or natural ability being stretched provides such rewards that make every day worthwhile.
I never cease to feel privileged to be around children at the start of their education. It is my belief that if schools can engage and enthuse children in education when they are young that the rest of their school life becomes so much more rewarding.
Lucy Hatton – Parent AGC Member
I currently live in Burton Green and have done for over 38 years. I have two children my eldest child Tilly a previous pupil at Burton Green now attends Kenilworth school and my son Harry who is now in year 6. I have the great pleasure of being the Burton Green Academy parent governor and the great privilege and responsibility of being the safeguarding and SEN lead for both academies. Having attended Burton Green School myself many years ago, I have seen many changes within the school and I have very fond memories of my time at the school and I really want to help ensure that the children have the same great experiences I had.
The day to day job for me is as a Corporate Reporting and Charity Partner for a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Coventry however I am also a Burton Green Parish Councilor and more importantly I am treasurer of the PTFA. As part of the active PTFA I really enjoy helping to raise funds for the children in as many ways as possible and I love playing an active role in my children’s school life, you will often see me around school doing something.

I have been a parent at All Saints Academy Leek Wootton 8 years, with my eldest child Lilly now in Secondary, and my son Basil in Year 5 in Waller. As parent governor, I aim to ensure the voices of children and parents are heard and support the board to ensure staff have sufficient skills, resources and support to ensure your child can reach their potential in a happy, nurturing environment.
I have devoted several years to supporting key stage 1 children reading and dedicated 7 years to our wonderful PTFA helping drive significant fundraising campaigns within the school such as the Green Leek Run, Teddy Bear Parachuting and summer BBQ, the funds of which are all invested back into your children's learning, if you haven’t met me already you will often find me behind a BBQ or cake stall!
Outside of school I work full time as Paths Manager (GB) for The Ramblers (Britain's leading walking charity), and am Trustee for Wheel for All (National Inclusive Cycling Charity). I also regularly meet with a wide range of parents and children across different years at events outside of school, for example when I also help lead at the 1st Leek Wootton Girlguiding Group and 1st Leek Wootton Cub Scouts group. I am very involved with Leek Wootton community events and am equally very aware of the history of our school and the important role it holds within the community, not just for my own children, but for all in the surrounding area who may attend.
Please feel free to say hi to me anytime, and if anybody is interested in taking on this role in future years, please don’t hesitate to have chat with me.
Rev Erin Gilmour
New to Coventry, after taking up the post of Associate Vicar within the Bridge Benefice in 2022, I was delighted to be appointed foundation governor for the Green Leek Federation in 2023.
As a church leader, I believe being active in the community is an integral part of church life and I feel privileged to service not only my church but the community in this way.
I have over 10 years’ experience of youth and children’s work having, prior to ordination, served as a Youth Pastor for a large church in the South of London. I have worked in schools, prisons and within the local community supporting and encouraging children to grow into their potential. You could say that I spent my time as a youth working being a cheerleader for the young.
I love working with children and young people and I believe that every child is unique, with their own personalised set of a skills and abilities. My hope is that throughout their lives they will know that they are valued, and loved, not only by their family and friends but by Jesus himself.
As a foundation governor my hope is that I will be able to facilitate the spiritual distinctiveness of the schools, helping the children to live life in all its fullness.
I am a very proud auntie to Elise, an all dancing and singing eight-year-old, nothing brings me more joy than the time I spend with her. I enjoy coffee drinking, swimming, a really good book and getting to know new people.
