Early Years Foundation Stage
Starting school sets the tone for the development of children as lifelong learners. We believe that it is important that the introduction to school for each individual child enables them to feel comfortable, cared for, happy and secure whilst being able to express their curiosity for learning in a stimulating, child friendly environment.
We place a strong emphasis on learning through play, both child initiated and planned. The curriculum is delivered through a combination of whole class activities, adult led focused activities and child initiated activities. The children participate in a wide range of activities that take place inside and outside the classroom. Numeracy and Literacy lessons take place daily.
We value parental support throughout the school but particularly during those important first weeks when children start school.
We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that children settle quickly and become independent. We try to empower parents and carers to support their children in their learning through activities that are sent home, early curriculum evenings and opportunities to support learning in the classroom. ‘Mucky Monday’ is a great favourite with children and adults alike.
