  • Wise Class Doreen's Diary

Thu 16 Nov 2023 Jane Bennett

Wise have had a fantastic day of learning about how local people’s lives were affected by World War 2. They have worked really hard as historians to investigate a range of evidence including photographs, maps, newspaper clippings and medals to learn about Doreen, Gilbert and their family who lived in the Hayes during the war. We walked around the village looking at sites that were affected and what role they played including a house used to store food and first aid supplies, a bakery, ammunitions factory, bombed area in the churchyard and base for the Home Guard.
